Squad announced
LALITPUR: Nepal’s head coach Gyotoku Koji on Sunday announced the 20-member squad for the international friendly match against Laos slated for May 29 in Vientiane. The team includes two goalkeepers, six defenders, eight midfielders and four forwards. Anil Gurung, who captained the national team in the SAFF Championship last year before being dropped from the Bangabandhu Gold Cup and was not included in the team that played against Malaysia U-22 a in friendly match earlier this year, not only made a comeback but was also named the skipper for the Laos friendly. Kiran Chemjong and Bikesh Kuthu are the two goalkeepers in the team, while Rabin Shrestha, Ananta Tamang, Aditya Chaudhary, Devendra Tamang, Kamal Shrestha and Biraj Maharjan are the defenders. Midfielders Prakash Budhathoki, Sujal Shrestha, Heman Gurung, Bikram Lama, Bishal Rai, Rajendra Rawal, Anjan Bista and Jagajeet Shrestha have been drafted in, while Bharat Khawas, Nawayug Shrestha, and Sunil Bal are the forwards. The squad was selected after a four-day training that included 33 players.
