New Delhi, September 9 :

The 46th edition of the Subroto Cup football tournament will be attracting 60 schools in junior and sub-junior categories from all across India and neighbouring countries like Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Malaysia.

The tournament will start on Thursday and will be played over a month with the final slated on October 13, the organisers, Indian Air Force, announced here on Friday. Thirty-three teams will take part in the junior (U-17) category while 27 in the sub-junior (U-14) section.

Nepal is the defending champions of the U-17 category while it ended up as runners up in the sub-junior category last year.

The opening match of the tournament will be played between a Chandigarh school team and the Delhi-based Mamta Modern School at Ambedkar Stadium.
