Sudeep claims U-14 title

KATHMANDU; Sudeep Diwas of Buddhist Child Home accumulated 6.5 points to claim the first Inter-Children’s Home U-14 Chess Tournament here today.

Sudeep defeated Tilak Khadka of OCCED Nepal in the sixth round

and Surendra Diwas, his own teammate, in the final round to clinch

the championship. Sudeep earned

a cash prize of Rs 2,500. Bijaya Lama

of Concern Nepal outplayed Susan

Bahadur Nepali of Paropakar in

the penultimate round before

playing a draw against his teammate Raj Kumar Lama to finish second with 5.5 points. Nepali received Rs 2,000. Surendra Diwas collected five points, same as Raj Kumar Lama and

Susan Bahadur Nepali, but finished third with a better progressive

points. Surendra had 23 progressive points, one point better than Raj Kumar and two more than Susan. Surendra pocketed Rs 1,500.

Likewise, players finishing from sixth to 10th position were Sagar Diwas of Buddhist, Santosh Chaudhary of OCCED Nepal, Ravi Magar of Nepal Rugmark Foundation, Tilak Khadka of OCCED Nepal and Ritesh Shahi of Children Bright Future. Ishwori Tiwari of Parijat Bachera Bas finished top in the girls’ section with two points.
