Nepal shines in national shooting debut

Sushmita Nepal of Central Region took the lead in the women’s 10m Air Rifle category of the National Shooting Tournament under the NSC Championship here at the International Sports Complex today.
Nepal accumulated 383 points out of 400 to stay ahead of Olympian and record holder Sneha RL Rana of Western Region. Rana, who also earned 383 points, was second on the count of Last Series. Nepal scored 96 points in Last Series, while Rana garnered 94 points. Another Olympian Phulmaya Kyapchhaki of Nepal Police Club is third with 377 points.
In men’s 10m Air Rifle, Western Region’s Dhan Bahadur BK earned 575 points to take the lead. Arnav Ghimire of Mid-western and Tribhuvan Army Club’s Kumar Karki both scored 560 points and the former is ahead on the count of Last Series. Ghimire scored 94 points, while Karki earned 92 points.
In women’s 10m Air Pistol event, TAC’s Sarita Basnet scored 358 points out of 400 to lead the standing, while Rubina Shrestha of Central (343) and NPC’s Sima Chaudhary (331) are second and third respectively.
In men’s category, TAC’s Kuber KC is leading the event with 543 points, while Eastern’s Satrudhan Das (524) and Mid-western Region’s Mohamad Noor Ahmad Ansari (463) are second and third respectively. Top five shooters in all the events will earn berths in finals. A total of 84 shooters — 42 each in men and women sections — from five regions and two departmental sides TAC and NPC are competing in the event.
