Swimming pool to be constructed

Pokhara, May 2

Western Regional Sports Development Committee is set to take the initiation to construct swimming pool at the Pokhara Stadium.

The sixth board meeting of the committee decided to work on the project to construct the pool.

WRSDC President Khagraj Paudel said that the swimming pool would be constructed under Public Private Partnership model.

“We took the decision of moving ahead with PPP model as projects take years to be completed when it is constructed by the

government. Sports sector cannot not be

developed if private sectors are not involved in infrastructure development projects,” said Paudel.

Paudel informed that the international-standard swimming pool would be constructed with the budget of Rs 300 million to Rs 350 million.

He said that the committee would prepare the Detailed Project Report before starting the construction works.

Pokhara Stadium has allocated 30 ropanis of land for the swimming pool.

Paudel also informed that infrastructure to hold the events of the 13th South Asian Games would be completed on time.
