KATHMANDU, JULY 9

Tribhuvan Army Club and Nepal APF Club recorded second straight victories in the men's section matches of the seventh Prime Minister Cup NVA National Club League here at the NSC covered hall on Sunday.

TAC defeated Dawali Milan Club 25-19, 25-11, 25-20, while APF came from a set down to beat Gandaki 21-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-17.

Both TAC and APF accumulated six points. In another men's section match, Tip- Top Help Nepal defeated Sailung Bagdhunga Sports Club 25-12, 25-15, 25-19 in their first match. Help Nepal, who have three Pakistani players in the squad, earned three points.

In women's section, Nepal Police Club registered their second straight victory to stay at the top of the table.

NPC defeated Everest Volleyball Club 25-17, 25-22, 25-6 to accumulate six points from two matches.

Also, APF laboured to a 3-2 victory over TAC. APF took the first two sets 30-28 and 25-23 before TAC hit back and levelled the scores at 2-2 forcing the fifth and final set.

TAC won the third set 25- 20 and recorded a 25-19 victory in the fourth set. TAC lost the momentum in the fifth and final set as APF dominated the match and won it 15-6 to complete the hard-fought victory.

In another match, Hongwanji New Diamond Youth Sports Club defeated Gandaki Province in straight sets. Player under the new captain and national team spiker Pratibha Mali, New Diamond dominated the match and won it 25-17, 25- 16, 25-15 to earn full three points.

A total of 13 teams - seven in men's and six in women's sections - selected from the Club Championship held last year are taking part in the tournament organised by the Nepal Volleyball Association.

Top two teams in both categories will advance to final after round robin league.

The winners will earn berth in the CAVA Club League Championship to be held in Kathmandu later this year.

Top four teams in both sections will earn Rs 600,000, Rs 300,000, Rs 150,000 and Rs 75,000 respectively, while the best players of the tournament will get Rs 35,000 each. Likewise, the best server, setter, blocker, spiker, libero and coach will receive Rs 15,000 each.
