TAC dominate

KATHMANDU: Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) dominated second COAS National Tri-marathon Competition winning all three positions here on Thursday. TAC ‘D’ completed the race in the first position and pursed Rs 100,000, while the ‘A’ and ‘B’ team finished in second and third position respectively and received Rs 75,000 and Rs 50, 000. A total of eight teams — four from TAC, APF, Lalitpur Bike , KTM Bike , Himalayan Single Track — took part in the championship. Chief of Army Staff Gaurav Shumsher JBR along with other officials distributed prize to the winners.

Prime into semis

KATHMANDU: Prime College advanced to the semi-finals of the second Ganesh Man Singh Memorial Cup Basketball Tournament here on Thursday. Prime thrashed Bagmati College 53-32 riding on 14 points from Nima Tamang. In other match, Golden Gate edged past Liverpool 45-42, while CCRC defeated Trinity 45-36. A total of 23 teams are competing in the tournament.

 

Kiev sign Gonzalez

KIEV: Paraguay international Derlis Gonzalez has signed a five-year contract with Dynamo Kiev completing his transfer from the Swiss side Basel, the Ukrainian club said on Thursday. The winger started his professional career with Rubio Nu in 2009 and later signed for Benfica but was loaned to Olimpia for the two seasons. Gonzalez moved to FC Basel in May soon after making his debut in Paraguay senior team in Costa Rica and scored six goals in 35 matches for the Swiss side. Gonzalez slotted two penalties to help Paraguay beat Brazil 4-3 after a 1-1 draw in the Copa America quarter-final last month.
