Tribhuvan Army Club defeated Nepal Police Club 1-0 and advanced to the semi-finals of the third Rumpum Jhapa Gold Cup Football Tournament at the Domalal Stadium in Birtamod today.

George Prince Karki’s first half solitary goal was enough for TAC to see off fellow departmental side and confirm their meeting with Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club.

Karki scored the goal in the 42nd minute from the set piece when he converted a free kick from the edge of the penalty box. TAC’s goalscorer Karki won the man-of-the-match award and he got Rs 25,000.

On Friday, hosts Jhapa-XI will take on Ruslan Three Star Club in the first semi-final match. The winners and runners-up of the tournament will get Rs 1.25 million and Rs 600,000 respectively.
