Tarakeshwor Youth Club win Naikap Gold Cup opener

Tarakeshwor Youth Club of Banasthali defeated Janachahana Cooperative of Syuchatar 6-5 in sudden death in the inaugural match of the Naikap Gold Cup Football Tournament here at the Naikap grounds on Saturday.
The Group A match went to tie breaker after both the teams were deadlocked at 1-1 draw in the regulation period of 90 minutes. The match was then decided in sudden death after both the teams converted the first five penalties. Arik Bista scored the winning penalty for Tarakeshwor and also earned the man-of-the-match trophy.
Earlier, Bishal Aryal had put Janachahana Cooperative ahead in the eighth minute when he converted a free kick from just outside the penalty area. Bista levelled the scores for Tarakeshwor in the 58th minute.
A total of 28 teams are taking part in the tournament and they have been divided into four groups. Member of Parliament Dhyan Govinda Ranjit inaugurated the tournament organised by the Naikap Gold Cup organising committee with an aim of constructing a national-standard stadium.
Convenor of the organising committee Ram Hari Basnet felicitated Ranjit for his support in the tournament. The final match is slated for October 28.
