Nepal players selected for India tour prior to ICC WCLC matches

KATHMANDU: A squad for Nepal's India tour has been announced on Tuesday to play practice matches prior to Nepal's encounters with  Kenya in the  ICC World Cricket League Championship (WCLC).

As many as 19 players, including skipper Paras Khadka, from among 24, made it to the squad.

The selection committee was headed by International Cricket Council's representative Venkatapathi Raju, Nepal's head coach Jagat Tamata and skipper Paras Khadka.

Khadka, who recently underwent surgery to treat appendicitis, would not be travelling to the Indian capital. Vice-captain Gyanendra Malla would lead the team in his absence.

The final team for the fifth round of WCLC matches would be announced after the players return home from New Delhi in the first week of March.

Nepal would host Kenya for two matches of the championship at Tribhuvan University Stadium on March 11 and 13.

The team would fly to New Delhi on February 24 and return to Nepal on March 3 after playing three practice matches with local teams.

Skipper Khadka would resume training after the team returns home.

Nepal had played their round-four matches against the Netherlands at Amsteelveen in August last year.
