Telegraph Association of Kolkata beat Sahara Club of Pokhara 5-1 in the quarter-final at of 16th Tribhuvan Memorial Gold Cup Football Tournament here at Mechi Stadium today.

After taking a lead in the first minute of the match through Anil Gurung ā€˜Cā€™, Sahara Club failed to make other goal-threatening moves, while the visiting Indian side dominated the field and scored five goals.

Ashin I Cole of Telegraph scored the equaliser in the 13th minute. Manik Mandal put the Indian team ahead in the 20th minute, while Cole scored his second goal making it 3-1.

The 40-minute first half ended 3-1 in favour of Telegraph Association. Carlos of the Telegraph scored two goals in the 46th and 59th minutes to ensure the victory and a berth in the semi-finals. Ashin I Cole of the Kolkata team was adjudged the man of the match.

Jawalakhel Youth Club have already entered the semi-finals of the tournament, which has been organised by Gold Cup Organising Committee under the sponsorship of Mayos Noodles.

On Thursday, Mahendra Police Club will take on Three Star Club in the other quarter-final match at the same venue.
