Tsering, Rai falter on second day

Nepali youth golfers Tenzing Tsering and Sukra Bahadur Rai faltered in the second round of the 11th Faldo Series Asia Grand Final at the Laguna Lang Co Golf Club in Danang, Vietnam today.

Tsering played seven-over 78 to slip down to joint 37th with the total score of 10-over 152, while Rai shot a 79 to share the 51st position at 13-over 155. Tsering and Rai had carded three-over 74 and five-over 76 respectively in the first round.

Three golfers, Napat Paramacharoenroj of Thailand (67), Jonathan Wijono of Indonesia (67) and Liu Yung Hua of Chinese Taipei (68) shared the lead at five-under 137. Overnight leader  Mohammad Rasel of Bangladesh (72) and Daniel Gale (68) of Australia were joint fourth at four-under 138.

Tsering played five-over 40 on the front nine where he had carded one-under on the first day,  while he improved on the back nine with two-over 38. He began the day with a bogey and suffered a double par eight on the fourth hole before dropping a shot on the next. His lone birdie of the front nine came on the sixth. Tenzing then faced a bogey on the 11th before carding two straight birdies on the 14th and 15th but went on to drop shots on the last three holes.

Another Nepali golfer, Rai played four-over 39 before taking the turn and added four-over 40 on the latter half. After carding a birdie on the second, Rai faced three bogeys on the third, fourth and seventh holes apart from suffering a double bogey on the sixth hole. After taking the turn, Rai dropped shots on the 10th, 14th and 15th and suffered a double bogey on the 11th against a lone birdie on the 17th hole.
