Three batsmen in 500-run club

KATHMANDU: Three Nepali batsmen, Gyanendra Malla, Paras Khadka and Sharad Vesawkar reached the 500-run mark in List A matches with the national team vice-captain becoming the first to do so when he scored 18 runs against Namibia in the ICC World Cricket League Championship match at the TU Stadium on Monday. Malla, who was out for 22, totalled 504 runs, while Khadka — who has four half centuries under his belt — topped the list with 570 and Sharad Vesawkar reached 540. Khadka scored 94-ball 103, while Vesawkar, who scored his third fifty in last four matches, struck five boundaries in his 74 off 107. After the completion of the third-round matches, Vesawkar is at the second position among highest run getters with 274 in six innings, two runs behind UAE’s Shaiman Anwar.
