Wimbledon: Mary Pierce reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the first time in nine years with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Flavia Pennetta. Defending champion Maria Sharapova reached the quarters downing Nathalie Dechy of France 6-4, 6-2. No 3 Amelie Mauresmo defeated Elena Likhovtseva 6-4, 6-0. Lleyton Hewitt advanced beating Taylor Dent of the US 6-4, 6-4, 6-7, 6-3. No 26 Feliciano Lopez became the first Spaniard to reach the last eight since Manuel Orantes in 1972, beating Mario Ancic 6-4, 6-4, 6-2. No 18 David Nalbandian eliminated Ric-hard Gasquet 6-4, 7-6, 6-0, and will play Thomas Johansson, who reach-ed the last eight for the first time beating Max Mirnyi 6-4, 7-5, 6-4. — AP
