Shrestha honoured

LALITPUR: The locals at Chapagaun, Lalitpur organised a rally in honour of the eighth and ninth SAF Games gold medallist Deepak Shrestha, who won a gold medal at the Ojawa Cup Karate Tournament held in Las Vegas, USA in March. Jagmohan Kayastha, convenor of the honouring committee, presented a shawl to Shrestha, along with chief sotokan coach Niwas Gopal Baidya and eighth SAF gold medallist Ganga Ram Maharjan. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu district committee of Nepal Taekwondo Association is organising the first Kathmandu District Committee President Cup Inter-school Taekwondo Championship from June 13-15. Athletes from 14 various schools are taking part in the six weight categories.

GIFU: Olympic champions Brazil overcame Japan in a four-set encounter at the World League men’s volleyball preliminary tournament here on Sunday.
