Boys United thrash RAI

KATHMANDU: Boys United defeated Rai School by 131 runs in the Kathmandu district under-17 selection cricket tournament. Batting first, Boys United scored 211/7 in 30 overs. Ajay Rajbansi top-scored with 63, while opener Bantu Bataju scored 44 and Asim Subedi made 42. In reply, Rai School were packed off for just 80 runs in 22.5 overs. Except, Abhishek Shrestha (31) and Badal Thapa (10), others failed to reach double figure mark. Sushant Triphathi took 4-15 off six overs for Boys United. — HNS

Double title for Nepal

KATHMANDU: Both the men’s and women’s beach volleyball team won the titles at the Pepsi Cup Beach Volleyball Tournament in Bangladesh on Thursday. The men’s team — Bharat Shah and Prem Bhandari of Mahendra Police Club — beat Bangladesh’s Border Rifle team 21-14, 21-16. In women’s final, Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Centre’s Anju Shrestha and Manida Shah beat Bangla-desh’s Ushashi 19-21, 21-18, 15-13. — HNS

Three Star get boost, cash

LALITPUR: Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) organised a programme to wish success to Three Star Club in the upcoming AFC President’s Cup to be held in Kathmandu from May 4-14. On the occasion, chief manager of Lumbini Bank Lokendra Pradhan presented Three Star with the cheque of Rs 1,25,000. Pradhan, TSC skipper Upendra Man Singh, NSJF president Niranjan Rajbansi and vice president Rajendra Gyawali wished luck to the club. — HNS
