DHARAN: Eastern Academy of Biratnagear defeated BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences by 42 runs in the inaugural match of the Darshan Memorial Running Trophy Cricket Tournament, here today. Batting first, Biratnagar were bowled out for 135 runs in 29 overs. In reply, Dharan could muster just 93 runs. Manjit Shrestha of Dharan was declared the man of the match. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Dipen Bamjan and Subarna Timilsina entered the 20-kg final at the first Valley-wide Shito Ryu Karate and Kick boxing Championship, which has been organised by Nepal Shito-Ryu Karate Association, today. In 25-kg, Prahsant Shiwakoti beat Nikesh Poudel to enter the final and in 30-kg, Sandesh Rana and Chandra Kumar advanced to the final. In 45kg, Narendra Lama made it to the final beating Arjun Rana Magar whereas Sarala Oli entered the 40-kg final beating Sharmila Lama in women’s section. Earlier, NSC vice president Ganesh Thapa inaugurated the two-day event. — HNS
Biratnagar enter final
GAIGHAT: Biratnagar sub-Metropolis beat Dharan Municipality 2-1 in the final of the Birendra Memorial Inter-municipality Regional Football Tournament, today. While the highest scorer of the tournament Ganesh Lawati and the best player Binod Lama scored for the winners, Sugam Shre-stha netted a consolation goal for Dharan. Amrit Rai of Dharan was named man of the match. In Tanahun, the final between Pok-hara sub-Metropolis and Siddhartha Municipality was postponed for Sunday. — HNS
Agro-veterinary triumph
BIRATNAGAR: Agro-veterinary defeated Devkota Library by four wickets to enter the semi-finals of the Rani Cup Cricket Tournament, here today. Batting first, Devkota Library were bowled out for 101 runs 25.3 overs. For Agro-veterinary, man of the match Lal Bahadur Sharma took five wickets. In reply, Agro-vet overcame the target in 24.4 overs losing six wickets. — HNS
