KC guides Sahara to semis

POKHARA: Man of the match Bishnu KC scored the only goal as Sahara Club of Pokhara defeated Adarsha Youth Club 1-0 to enter the semi-finals of the second Sangam Cup Knock-out Football Tournament, today. In the 66th minute, the both teams were reduced to 10 men, when Suraj Gurung of Sahara and Sunil Gurung of Adarsha were shown red card. On Wednesday, David Fall Youth Club will take on Pokhara Football Club in semi-final. — HNS

34 Pak fans missing

AMRITSAR: At least 34 Pakistani cricket fans have gone missing after crossing the border to watch Pakistan’s first Test against India in Mohali. Immigration department officials said the 34 belonged to a group of 2,754 Pakistanis who were granted visas to enter Indian territory through Wagah. They said 2,720 returned to Pakistan and added that the remaining 34 were being given a 24-hour grace period to show up at Wagah of Punjab by Tuesday midnight. — AFP

Kuerten splits with coach

SAO PAULO: Three-time French Open champion Gustavo Kuerten and Larri Passos, his coach for the past 15 years, have parted company, the two said in a statement. Kuerten, better known by Guga, thanked Passos for “15 years of conquests” and said he wanted “a different experience and travel without a coach.” Passos helped Kuerten win 20 titles on the international circuit, including three at Roland Garros and the 2000 Tennis Masters Cup. Under Passos guidance, Kuerten also topped the ATP rankings for 43 weeks. — AP
