Baba finish first:
KATHMANDU: Baba Boarding School finished first for the fourth straight year in the fourth National baba Inter-school Taekwondo Competition organised to mark it’s silver jubilee. Baba claimed five gold, and a silver and a bronze medals, while Reliance came second with won four gold, a silver and two bronze medals. Tara Ghimire and Puspa Thapa were declared the best players. — HNS
Mayor Cup football:
GAIGHAT: Ramakant Chaudhary scored the winner as Ward No 11 team beat Ward No 14 team 1-0 in the final of the seventh Mayor Cup Football tournament. Municipal officer Bijay Raj Subedi and Udaypur FA president Kiran Rai gave away prizes. — HNS
Gyan Niketan triumph:
KATHMANDU: Mukesh KC netted 12 points as hosts Gyan Niketan outplayed Reliance International Academy 34-19 in the junior boys section of the fourth Gyan Niketan Big Mimi Basketball Running Shield today. In senior boys’ section, TIA thrashed Nirmal Boarding School 54-11. New Shrine and Valley Public earned walkovers in senior boys’ and senior girls’ section respectively. — HNS
KEC win opener:
KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Engineering College (KEC) ‘A’ defeated Kantipur Engineering College 28-18 in the inaugural match of the Inter-technical College Basketball Tournament. In other matches, National College of Engineering beat Nepal Medical College 21-10; KU beat KEC ‘B’ 39-9; and Institute of Medicine beat Advanced College of Engineering and Medicine 31-16. — HNS
Arun Shahi bereaved:
KATHMANDU: Arjun Jung Shahi, father of Arun Jung Shahi, treasurer of Sano Gaucharan Youth Club died at the age of 61. Sano Gaucharan Club players observed a minute silence before their last match at the ‘B’ division league at Dasharath Stadium. — HNS
