Kotharia in town

KATHMANDU: The national coach of Billiard and Snooker of India Manoj Kotharia arrived here on Tuesday. Kothariya, who is on a personal visit, will conduct a special training for the local players, Nepal Billiard, Snooker and Pool Association said. The Association said Kothariya's training would be helpful for Nepal's preparation for the Asian Indoor Games slated October 30 to Novermber 8 in Vietnam. Kothariya is the former national champion of India. — HNS

15km running competition

BHAKTAPUR: The Subha Sait Youth Club of Nakhel is organising the Bhaktapaur District-wide Men's Marathon on October 17, the club said on Tuesday. Organised to mark the Tihar festival, top three finishers in the running competition will receive Rs 5,000, Rs 2,500 and Rs 1,500 respectivley. The race will be of 15km, informed the organisers. — HNS

Pandey off to Bangkok

KATHMANDU: President of Cricket Association Nepal (CAN) Binay Raj Pandey on Tuesday left for Bangkok to attend the ACC Development Committee meeting slated for October 14-15. The meeting is set to decide dates and venues to tournaments to be 2010, said CAN in a release. Pandey is also a member of the ACC Development Committee. — HNS

NCA prez departs for Greece

KATHMANDU: Nepal Chess Association President Rajesh Hari Joshi and member Ram Kumar Thapa on Tuesday left for Greece to participate in the 80th Congress of the World Chess Federation (FIDE) slated for October 15-17. A total of 149 FIDE members are set to participate in the congress. An Asian continental meeting will also be held during the Congress. The meeting is expected to discuss ways to help develop Nepali chess, said president Joshi. — HNS
