Friendship golf

Kathmandu: Maj Narendra Kumar Rai won the China-Nepal Friendship Golf Tournament here at the Royal Nepal Golf Club (RNGC) on Sunday. Played under stable ford 7/8 handicap format, Rai accumulated 39 points, while Gen Prajwalla SJB Rana came second with 33 points. RNGC Lady Captain Shastika Shrestha won the ladies section title with 31 points, nine more than runner up Pawitra Yakthumba. Bejoy Moktan earned 33 points to win the senior section trophy. Neeraj SJB Rana won the most birdies and the longest drive awards, while RNGC President Madhukar Yakthumba bagged the closest to the pin trophy. Other winners were Madan Rana (lucky 8) and Poonam Rana (sportsmanship). In all, 51 players, including seven lady golfers, took part in the tournament organised by Chinese Embassy to Nepal. — HNS

Parsa beat Kalaiya

KALAIYA: Parsa Cricket Team defeated Kalaiya Cricket Club (KCC) by two runs in the final of the KCC T20 Cricket Triangular Tournament. Batting first, Parsa scored 109 runs, while the hosts team were three runs short of the victory target before being all out for 107 runs for the loss of five wickets. Ram Naresh Yadav top-scored for Parsa and Sudeep Paudel contributed 19. For Kalaiya Sanjam Regmi took 4-16 and Binod Das and Subash Jaiswal claimed two wickets each. In reply, Suraj Timilsina scored 45 and Jitendra Yadav contributed 22 for KCC. Man of the match Sudeep Paudel of Parsa took 2-11. Meanwhile, the KCC is organising the KCC Reunion T20 Cricket Fair from Monday. Three teams — KCC Tigers, KCC Sharks, KCC Lions — are taking part in the event. The teams are formed with the members of the club, veterans, current players and youths. — HNS
