Lincoln finish first
KATHMANDU: Lincoln School accumulated 172 points to win the team championship of the first HIMS Inter-school Swimming Tournament on Monday. Baba (122) and Little Angels’ (109) came second and third respectively. On the last day, Manisha Lama of Lincoln won the girls’ open individual medley beating schoolmate Shriya Dhital and Jenisha Malla of LA. In girls’ U-12yrs 50m breaststroke, Malla won the gold, while Lopsang Gurung of Rato Bangala won the 13-14yrs section gold. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Lyceum and Prithvi advanced to the girls’ section final at the first Odyssey Inter-school Basketball Tournament here on Monday. In the semi-finals, Lyceum defeated NOBS 34-15 riding on Bhawani Khatri’s 16 points, while Prithvi routed Arunodaya 45-10 in which Nita Tamang netted 18 for the winners. In junior boys’ section semi-finals, NOBS ‘A’ defeated Cyprus 43-20 and Loyalty beat Sky Lark 38-36. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Alice Shrestha scored the solitary goals as Samajik Yuva Club defeated Nava Jyoti Yuva Pariwar 1-0 in the group B match at the Martyrs Memorial ‘C’ Division League Football here on Monday. In other matches, Satdobato Youth Club blanked Cannon Club 5-1, while Chyasal and Naxal Yuva Mandal played a goalless draw. Niresh Duwal scored a hat-trick while Nirajan Maharjan and Raju Lama netted one goal each for Satdobato. Thakur Shrestha scored the consolation goal for Cannon. KATHMANDU: Sushil Chandra Gautam of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) beat Rajeen Thapa of Dragon Air 3-0 to enter the second round of the Inter-Airlines Table Tennis Tournament here on Monday. NAC President Gobinda Thapa and GM Kul Bahadur Limbu jointly inaugurated the tournament, organised by the NAC to mark its golden jubilee. — HNS
