Social clinch trophy

KATHMANDU: Social Secondary School of Pokhara won the Inter-Secondary School National Football Tournament here at the Dasharath Stadium on Sunday. The Pokhara-based school edged Kalika Secondary School of Rupandehi 1-0 in final with Puspa Chhetri scoring the winning goal in the 40th minute. Siddhartha Vanasthali won the third-place decider against Depot Secondary School of Sunsari. The top three teams received Rs 100,000, Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively. In all, 12 schools were invited to compete in the tournament organised by Nepal Football Association. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Pharping Youth Club overcame ET Youth Club 3-1 in the C Division League qualifying match on Sunday. Deepak Bohara scored a brace and Radha Krishna Maharjan scored another for Pharping while Dipendra Thapa converted for ET Club. Likewise, Siddhipur Sports Club edged Thali Youth Club 4-3 in tiebreaker after a 2-2 draw. Bijay Shrestha and Amar Maharjan scored for Siddhipur while Saurav Bista and Ramesh Poudel replied for Thali. Also, Madhyapur Youth Association beat Jhamsikhel Youth Club 4-2. Raju Sinkeman struck twice and Binod Bista and Raju Sinkeman added a goal each for Madhyapur. Krishna Kumar Thapa scored for Jhamsikhel. — HNS
