Rana wins
KATHMANDU: On the day where all the Nepali shuttlers lost, Kishor Rana registered a 21-15, 21-13 win over Arfan of Afghanistan at the Pakistan Internatinal Championship in Islamabad on Monday. Rana will meet Niluka of Sri Lanka in the round of 16. Indra Mahata lost to Hussian Quamar of Pakistan 15-21, 17-21 while Pashupati Paneru went down to a Sri Lanka’s Dinuka and Pankaj Chand to Richard of Wales. Sujana Shrestha was also knocked out with a 15-21, 16-21 loss to Aisha of Pakistan. — HNS
Judo seminar
KATHMANDU: The NJA Coaching and Education Seminar began here at the National Judo Training Centre on Monday. In all, 31 participants are undergoing the three-day seminar conducted by 13 trainners, said Nepal Judo Association (NJA) on Monday. NJA president Deepak Harsha Bajrachary inauguated the training. —HNS
TIA Cup
KATHMANDU: Mt Glory overwhelmed Meridian School 47-12 in the boys’ section match at the fifth TIA Cup Inter-school Basketball Tournament here on Monday. In the other boys’ matches, Oasis defeated hosts Trungram International Academy (TIA) 39-34 and Sambotta overpowered Brainland 59-7. In the girls’ section, Brianland beat Mt Glory 12-2 and Manjughoksa edged past TIA 14-9. — HNS
