KATHMANDU: The seventh Men’s and sixth Women’s Samsung National Open Basketball Tournament is set to begin here from Tuesday. Top two teams from each of the four groups will advance to the men’s quarter-finals while top two teams from two groups will make it to the semi-finals in the women’s section. In all, 17 men’s 10 women’s teams are taking part in the tournament. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Valley Public Higher Secondary School is organising the second Valley Public Inter-school Basketball Tournament from September 18-27. In all, 27 teams in boys and 13 in girls’ section will vie for the championship to be played under league-cum-knockout format. Top three teams will be awarded with Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000 respectively along with medals and trophies, said the organisers at a press meet. — HNS

LALITPUR: Dolphin English School won the top three positions in the Lalitpur Districtwide Lower Secondary-level Running Competition organised by the Network for Excellent Education Development (NEED) in coordination with Ganga Jamuna Secondary English School. Kingdom Star claimed gold and bronze while Dolphin bagged silver in the Secondary School-level running competition. — HNS
