NRN int’l marathon

KATHMANDU: Nepal Marathon Pvt Ltd is organising the first NRN Kathmandu International Marathon here on October 6. Chief of the organisers Nilendra Raj Shrestha hoped that the event would help Nepal establish firmly in the map of international marathon in future. Nepal Marathon Pvt Ltd and Direction Nepal are also set to organise the Sports Expo at Direction Exhibition and Convention Centre on October 3-6. — HNS

Torres joins Liverpool

Madrid: Fernando Torres agreed a six-year contract with Liverpool with the transfer fee reportedly worth $49 million. The transfer fee will break the Reds record 14 million pounds that then-manager Gerrard Houllier paid Auxerre for Djibril Cisse in July 2004. He joined Atletico Madrid’s youth squad at the age of 11. — AP
