Britons get more

LONDON: Alex Bogdanovic was one of five Britons to receive wild-card invitations on Monday to play in the men’s tournament at Wimbledon. Jamie Baker, Richard Bloomfield, Joshua Goodall and Jonathan Marray also got wild cards for the main draw at Wimbledon, which begins June 25. Thiemo de Bakker of the Netherlands was the only non-Briton listed for the men. Four British women also received wild cards — Elena Baltacha, Naomi Cavaday, Anne Keothavong and Melanie South. Others included Viktoriya Kutuzova of Ukraine, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia and Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark. — AP

Huszti suspended

BUDAPEST: Hungary midfielder Szabolcs Huszti was suspended from the national team until the end of the year for disciplinary reasons. Huszti left the team’s training camp two weeks ago ahead of European Championship qualifiers against Greece and Norway. Huszti said he walked out because he was unsure whether coach Peter Varhidi would name him a starter. “The work of the national team cannot take place without firm moral foundations,” Hungarian Football Federation said. — AP
