Booters off to Dhaka

KATHMANDU: Nabil Three Star Club striker Santosh Sahukhala and New Road Team (NRT) goalkeeper Surendra Shrestha on Sunday left for Dhaka to play in the Bangladeshi league with the Chittagong Abahani Limited Professional Football Club. The club signed the duo for $800 each per month, said ANFA vice-president Lalit Krishna Shrestha. They were signed for two months. Sahukhaka returned to his former club Three Star this season after a one-year spell at the APF Team. Shrestha led NRT to eighth position in the Nepal’s national league last season. — HNS

Fernando Alonso wins

MONACO: Spain’s two-time Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso won his second successive Monaco Grand Prix to record his McLaren team’s 150th success. Alonso — recording his 17th career win — beat home team-mate Lewis Hamilton, his fourth successive second place in his maiden season, while Felipe Massa of Ferrari was third. Alonso — who leads the title race on 38 points the same number as Hamilton but has the edge as he has won two races this season — led by seven seconds after 20 laps with Hamilton recording the fastest lap of the race at the time and Massa in third. —AFP
