KEBS enter final
KATHMANDU: Kirtipur English Boarding School (KEBS) defeated Puspa Sadan by 80 runs and entered the final of the first KEBS Valleywide Inter-school Cricket Tournament on Friday. Batting first at the TU Stadium, KEBS scored 160 runs losing seven wickets in 25 overs riding on Prabin Shakya’s 41 and Aashik Sharma’s 40. Hari Khadka took 3-24 for Puspa Sadan. In reply, Puspa Sadan could muster just 80 runs in 22.2 overs. For KEBS, Bijay Gautam took 5-7 off five overs and earned the man of the match award. KEBS will face DAV School in final on Saturday. — HNS
Corporate basketball
KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Basketball Association and DHL are jointly organising the second DHL Corporate Basketball Tournament from November 30 to December 4 at the NSC covered hall. In all, eight teams — Nepal Sports Journalists Forum, Linez Advertising, Nepal Investment Bank, and DHL in Group A and Golchha Organisation, Kumari Bank, Jyoti Group and Standard Chartered Bank in Group B — are taking part in the league-cum-knock out event. All the teams can hire a maximum of two professional players but only one can play at a time, said the organisers at a press meet on Friday. Meanwhile, a group of referees and coaches formed an ad hoc committee of the Basketball Referees and Coaches Association.
