Diouf arrested

BOLTON: Bolton striker El Hadji Diouf has been arrested over allegations of assaulting his wife. The 25-year-old Senegal international was held by police following complaints of an attack on his wife, Valerie, at their home in the early hours of Sunday. He was released on bail and ordered to appear at a police station on Wednesday, Greater Manchester Police said on Tuesday. Diouf has twice appeared in court since moving to England in 2002 from French club Lens. In September 2003, Diouf was fined $9,500 for spitting at a Celtic fan during a UEFA Cup match. — AP
