Nepal face India today :

KATHMANDU: Nepal will take on India in its second league match of the 10th South Asian Games football tournament in Colombo on Wednesday. The match is important for Nepal after playing a 1-1 draw against Bangladesh on Monday. The Group B, that also include Afghanistan, is evenly poised with all the four teams tied at one point each. — HNS

Nepal take on Bhutan :

KATHMANDU: After a thumping six-wicket win over Kuwait on Monday, Nepali national cricket team will meet Bhutan in the Group C match of the sixth ACC Trophy in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday. Win against Bhutan puts Nepal in a strong position for the last eight. — HNS

APF win in Sikkim :

KATHMANDU: Armed Police Force (APF) Officers’ Club won the 15 August (Independance Day of India) Cup beating Darjeeling Doorbangla Club 2-0 in Sikkim on Tuesday. Ganesh Lawati and Jibesh Pandey scored a goal each for the Nepali ‘A’ Division club. It is the first title APF won after being granted the upper Division status last season. — HNS

Friends Club win :

KATHMANDU: Raj Kumar KC scored a winner in the extra time as Friends Club of Kupandole defeated Darjeeling Police Team 1-0 in the final of the Hearlehy Cup Football Tournament in Darjeeling on Tuesday. The match went into the extra time after a goalless draw in the normal 90 minutes and KC snatched the winner for the visiting team. — HNS

Karate tournament :

KATHMANDU: Nepal Kyokushin Karate-Do Association is organising the 13th Men’s and sixth Women’s National Open Full Contact Karate Tournament from August 25-26 in Janakpur. The top three winners in both men’s and women’s open sections will receive cash prizes. — HNS

Taekwondo tourney :

KATHMANDU: The first district-level Taekwondo Tournament is scheduled for August 18-19 in Bhaktapur. According to the organisers, Sallaghari Taekwondo Dojang, the tournament will be taken as the selection for the regional (Central) tournament, slated for September 1-2 in Chitwan. — HNS

Media Boat Race :

KATHMANDU: Nepal Photo Journalists’ Association (NPJA) won the 7-km Media Boat Race organisied by Nepal River Conservation Association to mark the Bagmati River Festival 2006. The NPJA completed the course in 44 mintues and 52 seconds. Nepal Sports Journalists’ Forum came second in 44.52 minutes and Himal Media finished third. A total of 11 media houses took part in the event. — HNS.
