Friends, NRT win

KATHMANDU: Nirajan Malla and Bikram Adhikari scored a goal each as Friends Club beat Machhindra Club 2-1 in the Nepal Bank ‘A’ Division Junior League football on Monday. Jivan Bhattarai scored for Machhindra. NRT defeated RCT 2-1 while MPC and APF played a goalless draw in other matches. Subhash Raymajhi and Saroj Dahal scored for NRT after Binod Munal had put RCT ahead in the ninth minute. —HNS

Singh quits office

KATHMANDU: Member secretary of the National Sports Council Kishor Bahadur Singh quit his office following the decision made by the government to scrap all appointment made after October 4, 2002. Singh was re-appointed to the job during the period and after the government decision, Singh stepped down from the office on moral grounds. Speaking on a farewell programme, Singh thanked all the NSC officials for working together during his tenure. He said that he would continue to work for the welfare of the Nepali sports. — HNS
