Thapa triumphs

KATHMANDU: Subodh Thapa won the KEGG Golf Tournament here at the Gokarna Golf Course on Saturday. Organised by the Kathmandu Eager Golfing Group (KEGG), Thapa won the event on count back after tying on 38 stableford points with runner-up Prem Sachdev. Greesh Bindra finished as the second runner-up with 36 points. In all, 20 KEGG members participated in the tournament played under stableford format with full handicap allowance. Chairman of the KEGG Suhrid Ghimire gave away the prizes to the winners.

Function postponed

KATHMANDU: A felicitation programme was postponed following the demise of former Prime Minister and veteran Nepali Congress leader Girija Prasad Koirala on Saturday. Lions Club of Kathmandu Horizon was scheduled to honour the record setting Nepali taekwondo star Deepak Bista with cash rewards on Saturday. Bista claimed the fourth successive South Asian Games gold medal in Dhaka in February. The function has been pushed back for March 28.

Chakratirtha in final

KATHMANDU: Youth Forum, Panga and hosts Chakratirtha (white) entered the final of the Valleywide Chakratirtha Cup Seven-A-Side Football here on Saturday. Chakratirtha edged out Chakrapath Simol 5-4 in tiebreaker after a goalless stalemate in the normal time. In the other semi-final match, Youth Forum beat Spark Sports Club 2-1.
