Swimmers depart
KATHMANDU: A six-member swimming team, three swimmers and three officials, left for Shanghai, China on Tuesday to participate in the eight World Swimming Championship slated for April 5-9. Alice Shrestha and Bibidha Rimal will participate in 50 metre and 100 metre breststroke while Osin Bharati will take part in 50 metre and 100 metre frestyle. — HNS

KATHMANDU: The U-17 ANFA Academy players played a goalless draw against Mohun Bagan SAIL Football Academy (MBSFA) in the first Mini SAARC Promotional U-19 Football Championship in Gangtok, India on Tuesday. Nepal is schedule to play against Kanchanjangha on Thursday and Manipur on Saturday. — HNS
Maya Sherpa leaves
KATHMANDU: National Sports Council bade farewell to weightlifter Maya Sherpa, who is set to climb Lyotse and Mt Everest. The gold medallist in the Birthday Cup Weightlifting Championship, Sherpa has conquered several peaks earlier but Lyotse is her second attempt with Everest being the first.— HNS
Gurung nominated
KATHMANDU: FIFA assistant referee Aruna Gurung left for Malaysia to officiated in the AFC Women’s U-19 Championship slated from April 8-18 in Kuala Lumpur. According to ANFA, Asian Football Confederation nominated Gurung for the job. — HNS
