Conti, Chivu banned

MILAN:

Cagliari midfielder Daniele Conti was banned for three matches and AS Roma defender Christian Chivu for two games on Monday by the Italian league’s disciplinary committee. Conti was sanctioned for a “vulgar” insult to the referee in Cagliari’s 2-1 loss to Fiorentina on Sundey. Chivu was banned for hitting an opponent during play. — AP
