Boys Union Club players will have a Virgin, a product of Highland Distillery, on their jerseys. BUC president Arun Baidya and manager of Highland Distillery Dipendra Sigdel signed the contract worth Rs 150,000 a year on Friday. World Distributors and Quality Biscuits are the other sponsors of the club. “We are thankful to the Highland Distillery for sponsoring the club. The move will help us in professionalising the sport in the country,” said the club.— HNS

Upul Tharanga scored his maiden limited-over century to propel Sri Lanka to an emphatic 75-run win over Bangladesh and an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Sri Lanka amassed 295/5 in 50 overs. Tharanga top scored with a 110-ball 105. Bangl-adesh could only reply with 220/6, despite a promising start by the top order. Opener Shahriar Nafeez top-scored for Bangladesh with a gritty 51 off 83 balls. Dilshan returned Sri Lanka’s best bowler with 3-17. Tharanga opened the batting with Sanath Jayasuriya (40) and combined for a 100-run stand. Marvan Atapattu made 53 off 43. Rafique was pick of the Bangladesh bowlers with 2-47.— AP
