Kang grabs LPGA lead

PORTLAND: Soo-Yun Kang drained four long birdie putts en route to a four-under 68 that gave her a 3-shot lead after two rounds of the $1.4m Safeway Classic. Kang also nabbed an eagle from the fairway on the 15th, where she bounced in an eight-iron from 136 yards. At 12-under 132, Kang is three strokes in front of compatriots Gloria Park and Jeong Jang. Park had a bogey-free 69 that also featured birdie putts of 15 feet at 10th, 35 feet at 13 and 30 feet at 15. — AFP

Inter win Super Cup

TURIN: Argentinian international midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron scored an extra-time winner as Inter Milan won the first piece of Italian silverware this season with 1-0 win over Juventus in the Super Cup final on Saturday. A crowd of around 30,000 people watched Inter see off the Italian champions on home soil at the Stade Delle Alpi with Veron grabbing the winner six minutes into extra time after being set-up by Brazilian striker Adriano. — AFP
