Lysenko sets record

MOSCOW: Tatyana Lysenko of Russia has set a world record for the women’s hammer throw. Competing at the Vladimir Kuts Memorial meet in Moscow on Friday, Lysenko threw 77.06 metres on her sixth attempt. The result beat the old mark of 76.07 metres, set by Mihaela Melinte of Romania in 1999.— AP

City reject Chelsea bid

LONDON: Manchester City have turned down an £18 million bid from Chelsea for their England
