Army beat APF in opener

Lalitpur, January 22

Hosts Tribhuvan Army Club saw off Nepal APF Club in straight sets in the inaugural match of the second CoAS National Men’s Volleyball Tournament here at the Nepal Army Sports Complex today.

TAC recorded a 25-15, 25-19, 25-20 victory against departmental rivals to begin the campaign on a winning note.

In other matches, Nepal Police Club defeated Central Region 25-10, 25-17, 25-19, while Western Region came from a set down to beat Far-western Region 16-25, 25-16, 28-26, 25-18. Also, Eastern outplayed Mid-western 25-17, 25-15, 25-14.

A total of eight teams are taking part in the tournament. Top three teams will receive Rs 300,000, Rs 150,000 and Rs 75,000 respectively.

The player of the tournament will get a Pulsar 150CC motorcycle sponsored by Golchha Organisation, while the best coach, blocker, lifter, spiker and defender will get Rs 15,000 each.

Earlier, Chief of Army Staff Gen Rajendra Chhetri inaugurated the tournament. He also unveiled ‘Abhilekh Tatha Khelkud Pustika,’ which includes the records and achievements of TAC athletes.
