TAC’s Bhat wins Liglige Race

Tribhuvan Army Club’s Khagendra Bahadur Bhat won the title of the eighth Liglige Race here at the Ligligkot today.

Bhat  completed the 13.8km distance in one hour and two minutes to win the race that started at the historic Chepeghat and ended at the Ligligkot Durbar. Bhat’s TAC teammates Ramji Basnet came second with the timing of one hour, three  minutes and 21 seconds and Krishna Basnet claimed third position in one  hour, five minutes and 28 seconds.

Bhat, who was also crowed as the king  for a day, earned Rs 50,505. Similarly, second and third place finishers got Rs 30,305 and Rs 20,205 respectively. Naresh  Budha of Jumla as well as Kathmandu’s Suman Kulung, Amir Singh, Sanjib  BK and Dharma Maharjan finished fourth to eighth and received Rs 10,105, Rs 5,005, Rs 4,005, Rs 3,005 and Rs 2,005 respectively.

Among the local participants, Amir Singh (1:10.40), Surya BK (1:14.35) and Rajan Nepali (1:15.05) won top three positions respectively. In  women’s five-km race, Santoshi Shrestha came first in 39 minutes  and 48 seconds, while Sanu Maya Karki took 42 minutes and 52 seconds to  win second position. Mira Shrestha Khadka was third in 48 minutes and 28  seconds. Top three runners in local and women categories got Rs 15,005, Rs 10,005 and Rs 5,005 respectively. The annual race was organised by Ligligkot Development Expedition.
