Tribhuvan Army on top despite MPC win
Kathmandu, December 23:
Mahendra Police Club (MPC) earned a 1-0 win over Machhindra Energizer Club while Friends’ Club came back from a goal deficit to beat Armed Police Force (APF) Officers’ Club 3-1 in the Martyrs Memorial San Miguel ‘A’ Division League Football today.
Jumanu Rai scored the winner for MPC in the 59th minute. With the win MPC ended its first leg only behind leader Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) on goal difference. Both MPC and TAC have 35 points.
This is MPC’s first win over Machhindra after the latter was promoted to the upper league last year. Machhindra held MPC to a 0-0 draw in the first leg and beat them 2-0 in the second leg last year.
Sunil Subedi header put APF in the lead on a cross from Ganesh Lawati in the 25th minute. Friends goalie Samit Rajbhandari fumbled Ukesh Shrestha’s 40-yard shot to let Friends Club equalilse in the 83rd minute. Friends skipper Robin Byanjankar headed home the second in the 88th before the 75th minute substitute Santosh Bhattarai added the third for Friends Club.
