Tribhuvan University (TU) beat Public Youth Campus (PYC) by 73 runs and entered the final of the third VC Running Shield Cricket Tournament here today.
Batting first after winning the toss at TU Stadium, TU scored 166 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 40 overs. Opener Sagar Panta was trapped leg before by Suman Kazi Sthapit for a duck, while other opener Durga Subedi scored 21 off 40 balls.
Raseek Bhandari hit two boundaries in his 69-ball 32 before being bowled by Ram Pradhan, while Ritesh Baral returned to the pavilion scoring 10 runs.
Kiran Rana scored 17 off 27 balls, while Padam Raj Joshi scored 13 off 25 balls. Rajesh
Panta hit three boundaries in his 38-ball 27, while Sanjaya Hamal scored 10 runs.
For PYC, Suman Kazi Shrestha took four wickets conceding 28 runs in eight overs, while Gyanendra Malla pocketed two wickets giving away 32 runs in eight overs. Hem Lal Shrestha, Ram Pradhan and Laxman Pradhan grabbed one wicket apiece.
In reply, Ritesh Bara, Kiran Rana and Ajay Singh took three wickets each as PYC failed to overcome the target and were packed off for 93 runs in 33.1 overs. Gyanendra Malla top-scored in the innings with 28 off 62 balls before being dismissed by Ajay.
Sailesh Singh hit three boundaries in his painstaking 70-ball 19, while Suman Kazi Sthapit scored 12 off 15 balls, and was only the third batsmen to reach double figure mark. Six PYC batsmen failed to open their accounts.
For TU, man of the match Ritesh Baral conceded eight runs in five overs, while Kiran Rana and Ajay Singh gave away 23 and 19 runs respectively in eight overs each.
On Monday, Shankardev Campus will take on Nepal Commerce Campus in the other semi-final match at the same venue.
