Triton, Golden Gate set title date

KATHMANDU: Triton College and Golden Gate have set the Girls' championship clash at the White House Cup third Under-19 National Basketball Tournament here today.

In the semi-final matches at the National Sports Council covered hall, Triton defeated hosts White House 47-39 and Golden Gate eased past Xavier International 42-29. Triton took a 16-22 lead in the first half and posted 12 points in the second when White House could only score four.

White House reduced the deficit in the third quarter with a 15-11 lead but couldn't save the match after trailing in the final by three points (8-7) despite a valiant effort from Maryle Shrestha who top scored with 16 points. Samikshya Neupane netted 13 points for Triton.

In the second semi-final match, Golden Gate dominated the match taking lead in the all four quarters. Golden Gate were ahead in the first quarter by 9-6 and took another three point lead in the second scoring eight to that of five of the Xavier. In a high scoring third quarter, Golden Gate scored 17 and conceded 14. They went into the deciding quarter with a nine-point lead.

The match was all over for Xavier as they scored four in the final quarter and conceded eight points. Neha Chaudhary contributed 21 valuable points for Golden Gate. Seema Karki scored 19 points for the losing side.
