Tsering wins Indian Ambassador’s Cup
KATHMANDU: Tashi Tsering won the Indian Ambassador’s Cup Golf Tournament here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.
Tsering accumulated 30 gross points to claim the overall championship trophy ahead of runner up Harish Gorsia. Played on a stableford format with 3/4 handicap allowance, Maj NK Rai scored 38 points to emerge as the nett score winner. Dr Niranjan Sharma was a distant second with the nett score of 26.
Mrs Song claimed the ladies’ section title with 37 points, five more than the runner up Mrs Yoo. Retired Lt Gen KNS Thapa finished as the winner of the Veterans Section (Above 65-yrs) with 34 points. Other winners include Ashwini Saxena (longest drive), Hridesh Singh (closest-to-the-pin), Mrs Dhanoa (winner in the ladies’ putting competition) and Mrs Bhibha Rana (runner up in the ladies’ putting competition). German Ambassador to Nepal Verena Graffin Van Roedern bagged the best golfer award among the four Ambassadors.
A total of 78 golfers, including 13 ladies, took part in the annual event organised by the Indian Embassy. Indian Ambassador to Nepal Rakesh Sood gave away the prizes.
