TU ‘A’ claim University Cup

Tribhuvan University ‘A’ defeated DAV College by six wickets in the final of the Golden Gate University Cricket Cup at the TU Stadium today.
Electing to bat, DAV scored 141-4 in their allotted 20 overs before TU raced to 142-4 with three balls to spare. TU achieved the target riding on brilliant half centuries from openers Rabin Joshi and Ishan Pandey, who put in 127 runs before the pair was separated.
Joshi struck six boundaries and two sixes in his 54-ball 71, while Pandey scored 57 off 51 balls hitting eight boundaries. DAV’s Nandan Yadav and Dilip Yadav claimed two wickets each.
Earlier, DAV posted the fighting total after Sudhir Chaudhary scored 48-ball 64 with the help of seven boundaries and two sixes. Santosh Poudel scored 35 off 36 balls hitting two boundaries. TU’s Ishan Pandey, Sagar Dhakal and Rupesh Srivastav claimed one wicket each.
Champions TU received Rs 200,000 and runners-up DAV earned Rs 100,000. TU’s Ishan Pandey was named the player of the series and he received Rs 25,000. TU’s Sagar Dhakal was named the best bowler, DAV’s Aadil Khan was adjudged the best batsman and Mahesh Khatri of TU ‘B’ was the emerging player. They received Rs 10,000 each.
National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Timilsina, Golden Gate International College Chief Executive Officer Ramesh Silwal and Madan Bhandari Sports Academy Chairman Binod Shrestha handed over the prizes to the winners.
Meanwhile, University Cricket Cup organising committee honoured former cricketer and international umpire Durga Nath Subedi on the occasion.
