Twenty20 Cup from Thursday
Kathmandu, October 8:
Shangri-La Cricket Academy in association with Red Inc is organising the Pulsar Twenty20 Super Cricket Tournament from October 11-15 here at the TU Stadium.
The four teams — Kathmandu Tigers, Nepal Lions, Corporate Giants and Shangri-La Sharks — will play each other in the round-robin league and the top two teams will clash in the final, said the organisers here today.
Nepal Lions and Kathmandu Tigers are captained by national team skipper Binod Das and Under-19 skipper Paras Khadka respectively. These two teams will be formed by Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) including the national players who are currently under the camp for the ACC Twenty20 Cup to be held in Kuwait from October 27. Ankit Kocher of The Everest Hotel is the captain of the Corporate Giants, while Aamir Akhtar, one of the 19 national players in the ACC Twenty20 Cup camp, will lead the Shangri-La Sharks.
Upendra Prasad Bhattarai, CAN vice president, said that the tournament would help the national team players for the upcoming ACC Twenty20 Cup. “We should be organising the tournament for the players, but we could not due to the ACC Under-15 Cup preparations. The players should benefit from the event,” he said.
Bajaj Pulsar is the main sponsor of the event which is supported by Everest Bank Ltd, Pashupati Paints and Hotel Shangri-La.
The Himalayan Times is the official media of the tournament which is co-sponsored by Pepsi, Reebok, ITNTI and Toyota. CAN is providing all the technical supports for the tournament.
