Aasif Sheikh hits ton as Panchakanya Tej win maiden EPL title

KATHMANDU: With Aasif Sheikh's unbeaten 111, Panchakanya Tej won the maiden Wai Wai Everest Premier League title in Kirtipur on Monday.

Sharad Vesawkar's Tej had made it to the final of Nepal's domestic Twenty20 championship winning all five league matches. They beat Gyanendra Malla's Colours X-Factors in the final match played at the TU Stadium in Kirtipur by 40 runs.

Aarif Sheikh contributed 23 runs and Sonu Tamang 12 to help Aasif pose the Herculean 172-run target for X-Factors.

Opener Vesawkar was sent back to pavilion by Avinash Karna in the first over. He could make two runs only. Karan KC and Prithu Baskota, on the other hand, contributed five and eight runs respectively as Aasif ran riot against X-Factors.

Avinash Karna, Amar Routela, Sanjam Regmi and Yogendra Singh Karki took one wicket apiece for X-Factors.

In the second innings, Malla made 47 before falling in the LBW trap by Dipendra Singh Airee. Rajesh Pulami Magar contributed 37.

X-Factors were all out in 17.3 overs for 131 runs.

Karan KC (3-35) was pick of the Tej bowlers. Sushil Kandel and Vesawakar took two wickets apiece, while Bhuvan Karki and Aire also claimed one wicket each to restrict X-Factors to 131 runs.
