KATHMANDU: Golden Gate International College and Golden Gate Club are jointly organising the first Golden Gate Veterans Basketball Championship from Wednesday.

According to tournament manager Raju Basnyat, eight teams are competing in the four-day event to be played among the above-35 sides.

Basnyat informed that the tournament will be played under round robin format and the top two teams will make it to the final.

Top three teams will get Rs 50,000, Rs 25,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively, while the most valuable player of the tournament will get two-way ticket to Hong Kong from Cathay Dragon.

The estimated budget of the tournament is Rs 500,0000.

Golden Gate College’s Sports Director Purendra Bikram Lakhe said the championship was being organised to raise health awareness among the veterans.
