Star-studded Himalayan White House International College (HWHIC) ‘A’ entered the final

of the second Himalayan Cup Inter-college Cricket Tournament after registering a 87-run victory over Kathmandu University (KU), today. The winners will now face the winner of the other semi-final, between HWHIC ‘B’ and Capital College.

At TU Stadium, electing to bat first, HWHIC were bowled out for 142 runs in 28.3 overs, riding on Paras Khadka’s 40. Khadka hit three boundaries and a six. National team captain Binod Das contributed 24 runs and Bantu Bataju scored 15. For KU, Mukund Uprety pocketed three wickets, Deepak Sharma and Piyush Sainju claimed two each and Sanjay Thapa and Ritesh Adhikari grabbed one wicket apiece.

In reply, KU failed to reach the target and could muster only 55 runs 16.1 overs. Except for Sunil Shrestha, who scored 17 runs and fell to Paras Khadka, other batsmen failed to reach the double figure mark. For HWHIC, Paras Khadka claimed four wickets conceding 12 runs in 4.1 overs. Binod Das, Sharad Vesawkar and Bantu Bataju took three, two and one wicket respectively.

Earlier, Capital College defeated National College by 36 runs to advance to the semis. Batting first, Capital College accumulated 152 runs losing four wickets in 20 overs. Avaya Rana top-scored with 94 runs nicluding 11 fours and a six. For National, Saumitra Neupane and Ritesh Rana Magar pocketed two wickets each.

In reply, Rome Shrestha contributed 87 runs but could not save National College, who were packed off for 116 runs losing nine wickets. For Capital, Raunak Malla and Raj Shrestha grabbed two wickets each. The final of the tournament, which has been jointly organised by Himalayan White House College and The Himalayan Times, is slated for May 13.
