White House lift fourth KCC Running Trophy
Bhaktapur, February 27:
Himalayan White House International College thrashed hosts KCC ‘blue’ by eight wickets in the final of the Wai Wai fourth KCC Inter-college Running Trophy Cricket Tournament, organised by Kantipur City College, here today.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss at Birendra Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya grounds, KCC were bowled out for just 95 runs in 28 overs in the 30-over-a-side match. Rajeev Budhathoki top-scored with 18 runs, while Dhan Bahadur Chhetry contributed 17.
For White House, skipper Binod Das took three wickets and Prem Chaudhary pocketed two. In reply, the two-time champions White House reached the target losing two wickets in 14.1 overs. Opener Subash Khakurel scored 35 and Prem Chaudhary 23. Amit Alok and Prajwol Karki took one wicket each for KCC.
Binod Das was named the man of the match and the series and received Rs 6,500 sponsored by Everest Bank. Prem Chaudhary was declared the best bastman, while Sumit Sharma of KCC ‘blue’ was named the best bowler and Gambhir Lama of HICAST the best wicketkeeper. Classic College walked away with the Fair Play team award.
In all, 12 college teams affiliated to Purbanchal University took part in the tournament. The final was re-scheduled for today after rain washed out the match on February 13. President of Cricket Association of Nepal Binay Raj Pandey and Executive Director of KCC Suman Katuwal gave away prizes to the winners.
